Facebook has created a new type of Lead Ads, and WOW they are awesome. It did not take long for advertisers to realize just how useful, powerful and ultimately profitable these new ad units can be. But many advertisers are not using it or have not heard about it due a major flaw. We will show you how to fix this problem and explain how this lead ad works.
Let’s take a closer look…
Two Taps done – A simple way to get optins
Building an email list is imperative to any business. But the process of building that list through forms can be cumbersome. With Facebook new Lead Ads, user’s contact information such as email address is automatically downloaded to you when the user double taps your lead ad.
It’s now two simple taps. First click the call-to-action button, like “Subscribe,” and then confirm by clicking “Submit.” No more manually filling out forms! With Lead Ads, advertisers can have Facebook auto-fill any of this information, assuming users provide it in their profiles:
User information you receive
- Full Name
- Street Address
- Company Name
- Job Title

Marketers have historically needed to be careful about requesting too much information. Generally, the more information requested, the fewer forms are completed. But that may be less the case now with Lead Ads since that information will be auto-filled for the user, taking the labor out of completing these forms.
“You know what no one’s ever said? “I love filling out forms.”
Which is a shame, because forms are pretty useful things. That’s why we’re testing Lead ads, a new, simpler way for people to fill out forms on their mobile devices….
EASIER MOBILE OPTINS
…Lead ads make the mobile signup process easier by automatically populating contact information that people have given Facebook, like email addresses.Simply put… Lead ads allow advertisers to collect information from prospects directly from mobile ads. Instead of sending traffic to a landing page where people manually fill out a form and press submit, they click on the ad, their information (name & email) is pre-populated, and they hit submit. All within the Facebook platform.
No More Landing Pages
Before Lead Ads, advertisers needed to follow this process:
- Create a link share ad that entices the user to click
- Redirect to a landing page away from Facebook
- Hope the user then reads the page and completes the form
There are so many opportunities for a user to lose interest, get distracted or decide not to fill out that form with this process.
Lead ads will solve this bottleneck.
Privacy Still Applies
When Facebook does anything awesome, the question of privacy inevitably comes up. Just know that it’s not an issue here.
When using Lead Ads, Facebook pulls this information from a user’s profile, and it isn’t sent to the business until the user clicks “submit.” So it won’t be sent without the user’s approval.
