If the internet has taught us anything, it’s that people love to be surprised. Just look at all of the subscription boxes that people buy into, not knowing what they’ll be receiving every month. The surprise is the best part!

As it turns out, you can use that same idea to send mystery gifts to your customers. You’ll want the incentive offers and rewards to be somewhat related to the type of business you’re in.

After each purchase, take a look at what the customer bought and then have an array of gifts to choose from. These can be anything from t-shirts and bags with your logo on it, to items that can help them enjoy their new product even more.

Consider doing tiers of mystery gifts based on how much money each person spends.

For example, if someone spends upwards of $100, they’ll get a slightly pricier mystery gift than someone who spent around $50.

To put it into perspective, someone who purchases $100 worth of makeup could receive a mystery gift that’s worth $10. Someone else who spends $50 would get a mystery gift worth $5.  

If money is a concern with your business, then keep in mind that you can put just about anything in a box and send it as a mystery gift. For example, coupons for their next order. The more their referred customer spends, the bigger the coupon they receive. Or you can reward them with a charity donation.

 Get to know them during the buying process, and then make a monetary donation in their name to a charity you think they’ll appreciate. This is also beneficial to you since you can write it off on your taxes.

The customer will probably follow up with their friend, tell them about the mystery gift, and hopefully their friend will refer people to your business too.

As long as you can include details about these two factors in the email, you can ask your current subscribers to forward the email so you can find more like-minded prospects.
